About Dr. Ackerman
Dr. Lani Ackerman, founder of Restore My Health MD, saw medicine as her calling from an early age as a means of serving God and helping others especially in parts of the world with great poverty and little medical care. She completed undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University and graduated from Texas A&M College of Medicine with honors (Alpha Omega Alpha) in 1985 at age 22. She then went to the oldest and most robust training program in Family Medicine, John Peter Smith Residency. The focus of her early career was refugee and international health, and she and her family (husband and 4 children) worked as volunteers in community development and education in remote areas of the Himalayas. There she learned about many different types of medicine, and perfected her skills in clinical diagnosis and reasoning, as well as teaching physicians and students, providing care in challenging resource-limited environments.
After beginning a non-profit and continuing her volunteer work, she continued patient care as an “old time” family doctor doing everything – hospital medicine (including ICU), obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, adult medicine, geriatrics, outpatient medicine while teaching Family Medicine residents as a faculty, assistant Program Director and Program Director both in the US and Asia. She has published over 50 peer-reviewed book chapters and articles in all areas of family medicine including many on global health and is a popular speaker at medical conferences nationally and internationally. She is the founder and medical director of a non-profit based in Nepal, an orphanage, and serves on multiple community and global health boards.
About Restore My Health MD
As medicine has changed and become more impersonal, and failed to focus on preventive and root causes of health problems, Dr. Ackerman decided to launch Restore My Health MD a clinic of Ackerman Global Consulting, PLLC, as a consultative practice where she could utilize her years of experience in clinical and academic medicine to partner with patients discovering what the root problems are, helping them to get healthy and stay healthy, while continuing to teach medical students and residents globally.
As a leader in family medicine and global health, she aimed to keep travelers and expatriates healthy, and to help patients prevent illness, detect reversible disease early, or regain health after setbacks with mainstream medicine.
After seeing the deception of the medical system when her husband was poisoned by a cobalt-chrome hip replacement as well as the misrepresentation of data during the CoVid crisis, she recognized it was time to look closer at nutrition, lifestyle, and alternative ways of treating root causes of medical problems. In addition, as she herself is getting older, she sees her patients and friends developing many preventable and treatable life-altering medical conditions. This has led to her current integrative approach to medicine and her becoming certified in the Bredesen 2.0 ReCode and PreCode program, the first successful treatment of cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s.

No, we do not bill for any type of insurance but will provide a superbill receipt that you can submit to your insurance company, if desired.
At Restore My Health MD our goal is to provide preventive and restorative care at affordable and transparent prices and ordering lab or imaging as your condition warrants, at reduced prices. Many of our patients have existing health insurance or Medicare but choose us and find a cost savings because their health improves, they take fewer medications, and our costs are less than their deductible and co-pays. If you request, we can provide a superbill for submission to your insurance company (though they may not pay). Appointments can be paid with an HSA/FSA card in many instances, depending on the plan. Patients can use their insurance or Medicare for many lab tests and imaging and if not covered, we can provide client pay discounts of often over 50% of cash prices.
This depends on your preference and where you live. For patients in Alaska or Indiana, currently only Tele-health visits are available. If a physical examination in person is required for a thorough evaluation, we will request an in-person visit, however, most visits can be arranged through tele-health, including cognitive testing.
While Dr. Ackerman sees her patients in follow-up as needed, she is not a “Primary Care Provider” taking care of all your medical problems, but enjoys working closely with patients’ primary care providers as patient’s desire. Her goal is to help you stay health or restore your health. She does not provide care for acute illnesses.
Yes, all patients will receive an email to get “onpatient”. This allows Dr. Ackerman to send your lab or results, as well as lets you communicate a HIPAA compliant manner.
You can call, email, or schedule on-line if it is a follow up appointment (the easiest)
