We specialize in preparing you for healthy international travel by providing individualized consultations based on your itinerary and medical history, and follow up when you return to ensure you stay health.

Dr. Ackerman has lived over 10 years in developing countries in Asia, much of that time with her family and young children. She continues to travel globally for volunteer development work and teaching, is a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine, and is Certified in Tropical and Travel Medicine through the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, the oldest certification in travel medicine. Your travel consultation includes a pre-and-post consultation, valuable information to keep you healthy for your trip which may be a week, or a year, or several years. Dr. Ackerman can also consult with physicians in other countries and do telehealth consultations in some situations.

For 40 years Dr. Ackerman has trained allied personnel, nursing, and physicians in remote areas of South and Central Asia, as well as provided direct patient care to thousands of patients with “tropical” and parasitic diseases (and experienced many personally), and has published many peer- reviewed articles on global health. She speaks regularly on global health internationally. She will educate you on the best way to stay healthy, and recommend appropriate immunizations, if needed. Most travel consultations can be done by telehealth.
